About Me
Hi, I’m Dan!
Bikes have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I learned to ride before I could even walk, and for the past 14 years, I’ve been living and breathing the cycling world. From working in bike shops around Sydney to gaining experience across the globe, I’ve spent countless hours perfecting my craft and building a deep-rooted passion for everything on two wheels.
But then, in late 2019, amidst the chaos of COVID, I decided to take a massive leap of faith and start my own business—Trail Mechanic. What began as a mobile mechanic service quickly grew into a full-fledged shop in Chatswood. (This is also where the logo came from ) It was the dream I had been chasing for years, and suddenly, I was able to share my love for cycling in a whole new way.
Then came the grind. After spending over 100-hour work weeks immersed in the cycling world, I hit a wall. The pressure, the hustle—it all took its toll. I was burnt out and ready to step away for good . So, I did something completely unexpected: I switched gears and entered the construction world. I spent my days hanging off buildings doing rope access and rigging, searching for something else .
But, life has a funny way of bringing you back to where you belong. A trip to the Netherlands—a country where cycling is more than just a sport; it’s a way of life—was the spark I needed. The moment I saw the cyclists zipping through the streets in the poring rain , I felt that fire ignite again. My love for bikes was far from over. It was time to come back home and do something I loved doing .
And here I am, back at it, ready to share my passion for cycling with all of you. Whether you're a seasoned pro or just starting your journey, I’m here to help you get out on the trails or roads again.
Thanks for reading . I can’t wait to be part of your cycling adventure!
